1. The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
2. Absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government.

Inside S21 the Khmer Rouge held their fellow citizens captive, while little birds were free to flit on the bars of the cells, a glimmer of life on the outside, but no glimmer of hope.
